It is reported that members of the Mayoral Committee, as led by Executive Mayor Cllr. Vukile Mhlelembana went across the Alfred Nzo District Municipality to officially introduce contractors for Water Reticulation, and upgrading of sewer systems to communities across the District.
The following are the teams and projects which were handed over:
Executive Mayor handed over a contractor appointed for the Reticulation Phase 1A in Mhlanga Village and surrounding areas at the value of R25 million.
Deputy Executive Mayor Cllr. Nomasomi Mshuqwana handed over a contractor appointed for upgrading of Cardaville Sewer systems to the value of R6m, which has been said to include contruction of 1300 long sewer line as well as 17 manholes.
Cllr. Momelezi Mbedla handed over Water Reticulation contractor in Luncedweni village in Ward 17, Ntabankulu for the amount of R11m.
In KwaBhaca, Cllr. Mnukwa handed over a contractor appointed to refurbish and upgrade existing sewer systems in Ward 18, Mt Frere for an amount of R19m.
It has been agreed that the Alfred Nzo District Municipality will continue to roll out handovers across the District in the next few days.
According to the Executive Mayor, the Municipality plans to fast track the rollout of water and sanitation, so that villages across the District can have access to clean water and sanitation.
We have instructed all the consultants contractors and project managers that we will not accept any delays and that we will act swiftly to terminate anyone who does not perform, Mhlelembana said.
The Executive Mayor assured the people of Winnie Madikizela Mandela Local Municipality and said, “Our people are running impatient for not having water 28 years after democracy. We can no longer act as if it’s business as usual. We will monitor the implementations of these projects to ensure quality services for our people”.
