Alfred Nzo District Mourns the Passing of Councillor Eunice Voko

The Alfred Nzo District Municipality (ANDM) is in mourning following the passing of Councillor Eunice Voko on Wednesday, 19 June 2025, after a short illness. She was 56 years old.

Cllr. Voko, a respected leader from Ward 22 in Lukholo Village under the Winnie Madikizela-Mandela Local Municipality (WMMLM), joined the ANDM Council in 2021 as a Proportional Representative. During her tenure, she served diligently as a member of the Standing Committee on Corporate Services and was also part of the ICT Governance Committee.

Described as a leader with a deep connection to the poor and marginalized, her loss has been felt across the district. “We have lost a leader and compatriot,” said Cllr. Sixolile Mehlomakhulu, Speaker of ANDM. “She was an activist and a servant of the people who brought compassion and commitment to the work of the municipality. Our thoughts are with her family and the organization she served with distinction.”

Executive Mayor Cllr. Vukile Mhlelembana echoed these sentiments, noting that Cllr. Voko’s legacy would be honored through continued service delivery. “We will ensure that her values live on as we strive to deliver water, fight poverty and improve the lives of our people,” he said. “The family remains in our prayers during this difficult time.”
