On the 19 of August 2025, the Alfred Nzo District Municipality (ANDM) hosted a memorial service at its Conference Centre in EmaXesibeni to honour the late Chief Bhekamabandla Phila Mdutyana.
Chief Mdutyana, who was a serving member of the Alfred Nzo Council, passed away on 31 July 2025 and was laid to rest on 8 August 2025. His passing has been described as a great loss to both the council and the broader community.
The service brought together councillors, municipal staff and local residents, all of whom gathered to reflect on his contributions to community development and to celebrate his dedication to public service.
