What Happened
The Department of Agriculture (DoA) in the Chris Hani District Municipality hosted its annual Extension Advisory Services (EAS) Awards, a ceremony that recognizes excellence among agricultural extension officials. The awards outline the department’s commitment to accountability and visibility in improving service delivery to farmers across the district.
These awards honour officers who go beyond daily duties to empower local farmers, improve productivity, and uphold professionalism within the agricultural sector.
Official Response
Speaking at the event, Director of Extension and Advisory Services, Noluvuyo Nqeno, praised the dedication of field officers who work closely with rural communities. “We have communities that depend on our work so that they can produce food,” she said. Nqeno also encouraged officials to remain “sober-minded” and professional when engaging with farmers, emphasizing that they represent the face of the department.
The award winners were celebrated across four categories:
- Candidate category: Msimelelo Mgolozelwa
- Certificated category: Ayanda Mvalwana
- Professional category: Nangamso Mlaza
- Technical Support category: Thabang Makinya
