ActionSA has expressed concern over the appointment of Honourable Lekganyane as Chairperson of the Ad Hoc Committee set up to investigate explosive allegations made by Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.

While acknowledging Lekganyane’s election, ActionSA maintains that the position should have been given to a Member of Parliament from a party not implicated in the allegations being examined. The party believes that doing so would have helped safeguard the integrity and impartiality of the investigation.

“These are serious accusations, involving a cabinet minister allegedly linked to organised crime,” said ActionSA. “This process must be beyond suspicion. It cannot be led by someone from a party whose senior members are directly implicated.”

ActionSA emphasised that it will not take a backseat during the inquiry. The party intends to use its seat on the committee to demand fairness, transparency, and accountability throughout the investigation.

In a call to the public, ActionSA urged any individual with credible evidence to come forward. “South Africans who wish to assist can email parliament@actionsa.org.za. We will ensure that all relevant information reaches the committee.”

The party warned that letting politics interfere with the process could erode trust and undermine efforts to get to the truth.
