On Sunday morning 27 November, a 37-year-old woman from Port Alfred was mauled by dogs on her way to work.
The Eastern Cape police spokesperson Priscilla Naidu said, they have opened an inquest docket for investigation. Naidu said it is alleged that the deceased was walking at approximately 07:45am on Alfred Road when she was attacked by the dogs.
“Two males witnessed the attack, and ran to a nearby security official and reported the incident. The security official then contacted the police,” – Priscilla Naidu.
When the police arrived on the scene the woman was badly injured and she was lying on the side of the road.
Priscilla Naidu added, “The number and the breed of the dogs are still unknown. We believe that two males who witnessed the incident will provide crucial information during the investigation.”
Naidu said they are pleading on anyone who knows the owner of the dogs nor the two males who saw the attack to contact the South African Police Service in Port Alfred, Luitenent Colonel Yogan Reddy on 046 604 2405/082 332 8794 or the nearest police station.
