The Wild Coast Sun, Sun International’s exclusive beach resort, played host to The Combo Comedy Show last night, transforming into the epicenter of laughter and cultural celebration. With the stunning backdrop of the beach and live performances from some of the country’s finest comedians, the event solidified its place as an annual highlight on the resort’s entertainment calendar, curated and hosted by the charismatic Sifiso Nene.
The evening kicked off with a grand opening featuring Zithulele Khwela, accompanied by Lamontville Cultural Ensemble’s Mkhululi wezoni song—a harmonious fusion of gospel and cultural elements that set the stage for an unforgettable night of diverse entertainment.
Sifiso Nene, a seasoned comedian and the evening’s host, took command of the stage with his signature humor and house rules. Witty anecdotes were interspersed with friendly warnings, creating an atmosphere where the audience was encouraged to have fun, not take things personally, enjoy the show, and remember that “what happens here stays here.” Nene, with his engaging presence, humorously recalled past incidents, adding a personal touch to the evening.

Simunye Churchboy brought a unique twist to the performance, humorously exploring the world of South African churches. The crowd resonated with his humorous take on lingering prayer sessions, highlighting the comedic talent showcased at this prestigious event.
At the stroke of 10:00 PM, King Nuba graced the stage in a stunning outfit, delivering an award-winning performance that left the audience in awe. Tso, a surprise act, added to the variety of comedic styles with tales of social ills, relationship antics, and a respectful tribute to the late Zahara.
Even the newly-formed MK Party made a cameo, courtesy of Sifiso’s sharp humor. Unfortunately, Amawele Ase Chestervile couldn’t make it, but the organizers seamlessly replaced them with Nonto R, one of the country’s funniest comedian whose performance had the audience laughing heartily until the final moments of the show.
