On Sunday, July 31st, a man was hunted down by police forces after he allegedly attacked and murdered two Grade 12 school girls in Ngwangwane village, Southern KwaZulu- Natal.
It is alleged that the accused is in his early twenties and hunted down, hacked, and later dissembled their bodies. According to police the man in question allegedly attacked the two deceased school girls with an axe at the student accommodation where these girls resided in.
According to reports the accused left one of the bodies at the student accommodation and the other body was found about five kilometers away from the house.
“On Sunday, 31 July 2022, a team of various police officers traced and arrested a 21- year- old suspect. Yesterday, the suspect escaped from the police custody when he was booked out, to point out where he dumped the second victim’s body” said Lieutenant- Colonel Nqobile, police spokesperson.
South Africans have voiced out their views on the matter on social media and believe they are not safe even within their own homes more especially student accommodation where they at least find safety.
“There is a serial killer on the run. This is so scary. I hope the police are doing their best to find the culprit before he does it to anyone else. Also I hope death sentence is considered because this is sick” commented a civilian.
Police say the suspect jumped out the police van, jumped into the river and tried to swim in order to escape. After police called for backup the suspect was caught hiding at a local St Johns Apostolic Faith Mission Church house.
“We will continue fighting, we will forever remember our fallen sisters, we will scream their names from the highest towers, we will never give up” commented another civilian under an Instagram post on the tragic incident of these school-girls.
