ANDM Municipal Manager appears in court within a month in the office

In a issue by the Alfred Nzo District Municipality confirms that Municipal Manager, Mr Zamile Sikhundla has handed himself over to the SAPS amid a request by the Special Investigations Unit.

It is reported that he is being indicted for an alleged contravention in terms of Section 173 of Municipal Finance Management Act.

Sikhundla is out on bail and reappeared before the eMaxesibeni Court on the 30th November 2022.

The Municipality says that since the beginning of the 2017 Proclamation by then president, JG Zuma, certain contracts relating to procurement of services by both the Municipal Manager and Municipality have been complying fully with the investigation and have provided all the information the authorities requested.

The Municipality and Mr Sikhundla himself strongly believe there hasn’t been any wrongdoing on his part as it relates to the matter at hand. The Municipality adds that it respects the rule of law and any official will be subjected to any Investigation if deemed necessary by any official.

ANDM further adds that they are concerned on the length of the investigation which began in 2017 with previous arrests of former CFO, former IDMS Manager and former SCM personnel. In regards to this matter no conviction or conclusive evidence of any wrongdoing have been found.

The Municipality say they will continue to cooperate with any investigation on any matter in order to ensure transparency, accountability and governance.
