SRD R350 grant payments delayed due to technical glitch

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has confirmed the payment dates for December 2022.

As previously reported earlier this year, SASSA said it had taken note of beneficiaries’ complaints about the previous payment schedule and decided to make changes.

SASSA announced that if the second day of the month falls on a weekend or public holiday, the payment will take place on the following work day.

Older persons and their associated grants will be paid first, followed by disability grants and child grants.

SASSA PAYMENT DATES

Older persons – Thursday, 1 December

Disability grants – Friday, 2 December

Children’s grants – Monday, 5 December.

Beneficiaries can still collect their grants at South African Police Office (SAPO) branches.

Earlier in November, state owned banking institution Postbank issued an apology to SASSA grant beneficiaries after they could not access their grant monies at ATM’s and retailers nationwide due to a system glitch that impacted payments.

Postbank then advised the social grant beneficiaries to proceed to withdraw social grants at all ATM’s and retail outlets nationwide that provide the cashback functionality which includes Shoprite, Checkers, USave, Pick n Pay and Boxer.
