On Sunday, 04 September 2022, the Amampondo Royal Family released a media statements clearing the rumors that circulated in various media outlets regarding the issue of succession within the Amampondo Royal Family. These rumors followed after the Royal family noted a circulation of comments attributed to Mr. Marhaqana.
“The Royal family wishes to unequivocally indicate that the truthfulness of the contents of the communication is not for it to offer any objection to, save to indicate that the said Marhaqana has neglected to follow Royal Protocol in dealing with the matter under discussion”.
The Amampondo Royal Family included a number of clarification on the issue at hand and Marhaqana not being of any royal status. The report also stated that Marhaqana has no involvement on any royal affairs which gives him no power to say anything or report on the Amampondo royal issues.
“We below record that the question of succession within the Amampondo Royal Family has not commenced as yet. We must further indication that Mr. Marhaqana is not the designated spokesperson of Ndimakude Great Place. Therefore, it is wrong of him to portray himself as such”.
It further stated that all statements by Marhaqana are inaccurate and that they are defamatory to the Amampondo Royal family. His statements that have later resulted in people raising their concerns on the Royal Family are false.
“The assertions by Mr Marhaqana ooze with malevolence and the sequence of events given are scurrilous to a point of obscenity. They are riddled with lies, lies which are so blatant that any person who knows Amampondo Royal Family would reject such statements as a product of character assassins”.
The report included a number of detailed reasons to why Marhaqana is wrongful for his actions and why he is not associated with royalty in any kind or manner due to the Amampondo customs and traditions.
“Nkosi Ngangenyathi Sigcau, the son of Toli, the Right Hand House of King Sigcau, had an affair with a married woman from the Marhaqana family of Gcwanini clan. From that relationship, a boy child was born, and that boy child is Mr. Mzwandile Marhaqana.
In terms of AmaMpondo custom and tradition, a child born out of the situation stated above, does not belong to AmaFaku clan or family, but he belongs to the 3 Marhaqana family of AmaGcwanini”.
The closing remarks from the report cleared the allegations of the amaKhosi of the Kingdom met in KwaTantsi Great Place, Ntabankulu in the Eastern Cape on the 02nd day of September 2022.
“Lastly, the AmaMpondo Royal Family has instructed its lawyers to consider an urgent legal recourse against Mr Marhaqana, if Gcwanini does not desist from this unbecoming behaviour. 16. It is not our desire to engage furthermore on this issue”.
