Eastern Province Chief Minister Oscar Mabuyane hosted a press conference to introduce and reshuffle his provincial cabinet.

Among the changes he made, he fired the minister of transport and public safety, Weziwe Tikana-Gxothiwe, as well as the minister of sports, culture and arts, Fezeka Nkomonye.

Minister Xolile Nqatha, who was the government minister for cooperation and traditional affairs, is now taking over from Gxothiwe who got fired. And Nonceba Kontsiwe was the minister of human settlement and is now the minister of sports, art and culture.

Siphokazi Mani-Lusithi is the new Minister of Human Settlements, moving from the Human Development Office. The new ministers include Zolile Williams who is the minister of government for co-operation and Bukiwe Fanta who is the new Minister of Human Development. Ntombovuyo Nkopane is the new minister of public works and infrastructure.

Just less than a month ago, former MEC Nkomonye announced three television plays to be produced at the province of the Eastern Cape and held the first ever music awards as an acceleration program for local artistic content.

Azanian People’s Organisation provincial secretary, Masikane Mapena criticised the Premier claiming that this is not a people centred decision but rather a reward for those that supported him and a punishment for those who did not.
