Minister of Social Development, Nokuzola Sisisi Tolashe, urged South Africans to “avoid excessive alcohol use” during the festive season and to “choose fun, games, sport and quality family time.”

She added:

“You are precious and your future matters. Staying sober helps you enjoy the festive season safely.”

The department reminded families of their responsibility to protect children, especially during the holiday period, when alcohol and substance abuse tend to rise.
