Thousands of social grant (SRD) payments were not processed at retail pay points due to a technical glitch with the payment system
On Wednesday, many social relief distress grant beneficiaries were supposed to receive their SRD R350 payments, but instead they left the retail pay points livid.
This was after the processing of the payments could not go through due to a system glitch at the Postbank. This caused a delay in payments at retailers which include Boxer; Shoprite; Usave; Checkers and Pick n Pay.
According to Postbank, there were connectivity issues within the R350 SRD payment service platform.
Most social grant recipients access their funds at retailers, while some use the services of the Post Office.
