O.R Tambo District Municipality officials toured several accommodation establishments across the district this week. The visits covered Ingquza Hill, Port St Johns, Nyandeni, KSD and Mhlontlo. The tour aimed to profile local tourism spots before the busy December season.
What Happened
The Tourism and Communications team began their route at KwaNomzi Boutique Lodge along the R61 near Zalu Hills. Officials praised its intimate setting and scenic views.
They then moved to Indwendwe Lodge in Flagstaff. The team described it as a four-star haven with warm rooms and space for large group events.
Next, the delegation travelled to Mkambathi Nature Reserve. The site impressed them with its landscape, wildlife and tranquil accommodation. “Mkambathi is where tired souls breathe again,” an official said. The team stayed overnight at the reserve.
Official Response
In addition, the district highlighted the growth of luxury stays in rural areas. The team visited Gwegwe Beach Lodge near Mkhara, calling it one of the district’s standout five-star offerings.
They also toured Cosy Posy Boutique Hotel and Mvemve Boutique Hotel in Lusikisiki. Both locations received praise for comfort, style and warm hospitality.
The final stop was Gandundu Lodge in Bethel. Officials noted its homely appeal and peaceful setting away from town traffic.
Community Impact
Local tourism operators say the visits bring attention to destinations that often go unnoticed. The municipality hopes the profiling effort will attract holiday travellers, strengthen local businesses and create more jobs.
More establishments, including Sips, Lalamfene, Ellenicha, Myezo and Flagridge, will be featured in upcoming updates.
