SEVEN SUSPECTS, AGED 23-33 WHO WERE LINKED TO ALEXANDRA SHOOTING HAVE BEEN ARRESTED

Thursday, 14 July 2022, the community of Alexandra, north Johannesburg was under attack. A series of shootings took place resulting in deaths of innocent lives.

Several Alexandra residents died and amongst them was the Alex FM music manager Joshua ‘Jorontinah’ Mbatha who was robbed and later gunned down by an armed gang.

Seven suspects following this series of shootings were found with firearms and cellphones. Minister of Police, Bheki Cele, states that these suspects are residents who lived in Alexandra. He continues to say that these suspects thieves, not only did they shoot people they robbed them as well.

Vincent Ndima from the Alexandra parliament told the media that he felt as if the police were not doing their job, he claims that there are a few that do their job but the rest is not.

Certifying documents cannot and should not take you four hours in any police station but this thing happens here, we experience this in our police station” he said.[/perfectpullquote]

He continued to tell reports on sight that in order to fully combat crime in Alexandra, the police should collectively do their job and not only show up when the media is on sight.

“We want to see 100 percent commitment. We want to see vehicles in every street in Alex” he concluded.

Community leader Vincent claims that there is a bit of hope in the police visibility in Alex judging from the measurements and deployment of police that were recently placed in the area after these attacks. He says the community is still in progress in trusting the police.

“We have hope as the community of Alex” he said.
