Umzimvubu Local Municipality took part in a Taxi Rank Activation on 17 November 2025 , aimed at educating residents about the upcoming G20 Leaders’ Summit. The event was led by the Government Communication & Information System (GCIS) in the Alfred Nzo District. Commuters received government information and were given a chance to check their voting status on the IEC Voters’ Roll.

What Happened

The activation brought government communicators, municipal officials and IEC representatives to the busy EmaXesibeni taxi rank. Residents learned about South Africa’s role as G20 host and the upcoming summit at NASREC on 22–23 November 2025. IEC teams helped people confirm their registration details, while GCIS officials shared pamphlets and explained the purpose of the G20.

One resident said, “It helps when government brings information to where we are. We also checked our voting details on the spot.”
