KSD Municipality’s Technical Services Department launched its two-day Strategic Planning Session today at Mthatha Stadium. The meeting brings together officials and key partners to review roads and electricity programmes. It also sets the tone for wider institutional planning.
What Happened
The session opened with a full agenda focused on roads, electricity infrastructure, community development, and long-term sustainability. Acting Portfolio Head Cllr N. Sibeko framed the gathering as a chance to measure progress and sharpen delivery.
“We have made significant strides, yet we continue to face challenges that demand new thinking and innovative solutions,” Sibeko said.
Furthermore, she highlighted pressure points such as rapid population growth, climate-related disruptions, and rising community expectations.
Official Response
Government and sector partners joined the discussions, including COGTA, the Department of Transport, OR Tambo District Municipality, Nyandeni Local Municipality, DMRE, SANRAL, Eskom, MISA, CSIR, and DEDEAT.
Officials stressed that collaboration will help unblock delays and speed up implementation. Stakeholders also noted that the session forms part of preparations for the broader institutional Strategic Planning Session.
A representative from one partner agency added, “Working together gives us a clearer path to better infrastructure and stronger service delivery.”
Community Impact
Residents are likely to see improved road maintenance, more stable electricity supply, and clearer rollout plans once strategies take shape. The municipality aims to use the session to tighten coordination so communities receive quicker results.
Because expectations continue to rise, the planning process seeks to build trust by linking infrastructure upgrades with visible, gradual improvements.
