Stellenbosch FC has listed striker Lehlohonolo Mojela and midfielder Lesiba Nku for transfer ahead of the upcoming window. The club informed both players on 17 November 2025 that they must train away from the first team. Stellies are open to selling the duo should interested clubs meet their valuation.
What Happened?
Stellenbosch FC moved Mojela and Nku out of the senior setup as part of their mid-season squad adjustments. The decision follows internal discussions aimed at securing transfer fees while reshaping the squad.
Mojela joined Stellies in July 2024. He enjoyed a strong start, scoring six goals in his first nine matches before suffering a major knee injury. He helped lead the club to the MTN8 final in his debut season. Although he recovered, his form dipped, with no goals in 15 appearances.
Nku arrived permanently from Mamelodi Sundowns in January 2025. The 29-year-old made 35 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice in the Betway Premiership last season.
Official Response
Club officials confirmed that both players must now train individually. They stressed that the move is professional and intended to allow the pair to secure new opportunities.
Stellenbosch management said:
“The club wants a clean process. If the right offer arrives, both players will be released. Until then, they will train separately.”
Coaches declined to comment on valuations but noted that the January window will be decisive.
Community Impact
Fans have reacted with mixed views. Some believe Mojela needs a fresh start after his injury setback. Others worry that losing both players could deepen the club’s struggles this season.
Local analysts added that Stellies face increasing pressure to rebuild after a difficult run of results. The departures may also open space for younger academy players to break into the matchday squad.
