Matatiele Local Municipality held a major information-sharing session in Ward 10 on 14 November. Several government departments and organisations joined the event to brief residents on available services. Community members engaged directly with officials throughout the session.
What Happened
The municipality partnered with SAPS, the Department of Health, Social Development, SASSA, and local change agents to bring key services into the ward.
Residents moved between stalls, asked questions, and gathered practical guidance on safety, health access, and social support.
Ward Councillor Masela urged residents to stay informed. “Information is power, and our people must know what support exists,” he said.
Official Response
Municipal officials praised the turnout and outlined the value of closer coordination between departments.
They noted that face-to-face interaction helps residents understand processes that often feel distant.
Departments also committed to returning for more outreach sessions as service access remains a priority in Matatiele.
Community Impact
The session strengthened trust and improved awareness of essential services.
Residents appreciated the opportunity to ask direct questions and receive on-the-spot assistance.
Many thanked the municipality for bringing officials closer, saying the outreach reduced barriers that normally limit access to information.
