A high-level briefing session was held on 13 November 2025, at Bhadi Community Hall to introduce the contractor for Phase 3 of the Willowvale–Dwesa Road Upgrade. The session brought together Eastern Cape Transport MEC Xolile Nqatha, local leaders, and business stakeholders as the project moved into its next phase of implementation.
What Happened
Stakeholders gathered in Bhadi as the Department of Transport introduced the contractor responsible for delivering Phase 3 of the Willowvale–Dwesa Road Upgrade. The meeting formed part of the project’s rollout and ensured that community and business structures were briefed on the scope of work.
Official Response
Transport MEC Xolile Nqatha attended alongside Mbhashe Local Municipality Executive Mayor Samkelo Janda. Representing Amathole District Municipality was Councillor Bukelwa Madikane, with MPL Nozibele Nyalambisa also in attendance.
Officials stressed that the upgrade stressed a strategic step toward improved access and long-term development.
“This project is a key milestone in transforming rural connectivity and economic growth,” officials said during the session.
Community Impact
The Mbhashe Business Forum, Department of Transport stakeholders, councillors, and officials attended the briefing, indicating strong community support. The road upgrade is expected to improve travel, stimulate local trade, and boost rural development across Mbhashe.
