The Faculty of Management and Public Administration Sciences at Walter Sisulu University (WSU), Butterworth Campus, recently hosted the Executive Dean’s Excellence Awards at the New Auditorium. The ceremony recognized outstanding students for their academic achievements and commitment to excellence.
What Happened
The awards ceremony celebrated the top-performing students within the faculty, attended by senior university officials and proud family members.
Distinguished guests included DVC: Teaching and Learning, Professor Margaret Linington; Executive Dean, Professor Manoj Panicker; and Deputy Executive Dean, Dr Regina Stofile.
Opening the event, Prof. Bulelwa Nguza-Mduba delivered an inspiring message, reminding everyone that true excellence stems from hard work and collaboration.
“We are gathered here to celebrate excellence, hard work, and brilliance,” said Prof. Nguza-Mduba. “Success is never achieved alone, it thrives on support, leadership, and perseverance.”
Her remarks set an uplifting tone for the celebration, emphasizing WSU’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded graduates who embody the university’s vision of holistic development.
Official Response
Delivering a heartfelt congratulatory message, Professor Linington commended the students for their determination and courage in pursuing excellence.
“It is my honour to congratulate all the successful candidates,” she said. “You are standing on the shoulders of giants, and excellence means you have run with horses.”
Her message drew warm applause from the audience, resonating with the theme of overcoming challenges and striving beyond mediocrity.
In his vote of thanks, Professor Sanjay Balkaran emphasized on the unity and enthusiasm displayed throughout the event.
He also praised Professor Siyabonga Mxunyelwa for his energy as programme director and shared a light-hearted tribute to Professor Nguza-Mduba, noting her passion and discipline as a leader.
