Police Minister Firoz Cachalia has unveiled a new national strategy aimed at fighting gangsterism in South Africa.
The plan focuses on improving law enforcement capacity and community safety in areas most affected by gang violence.
According to Cachalia, government funding has already been secured to begin implementing the initiative.
Where the Plan Will Start
The anti-gang strategy will first launch in:
- Eastern Cape
- Western Cape
- Gauteng
- KwaZulu-Natal
These provinces have seen high levels of gang-related crime and community unrest in recent years.
Government Confident in Impact
Minister Cachalia said he believes the strategy will help reduce gang activity and bring stability to affected areas.
“We are confident this approach will make a meaningful difference in restoring peace and order in our communities,” he said.
More details on the specific interventions and rollout timeline are expected in the coming weeks.
