The Animeds, in partnership with the Alfred Nzo District Municipality, hosted the Farmers Day Programme at the EmaXesibeni Conference Centre on 31 October. The event gathered farmers, agricultural experts, and key industry stakeholders from across and beyond the district to promote innovation, market access, and sustainability in local farming.
What Happened
The “Heart of Perfect Farming” event aimed to motivate farmers to move from small-scale production to profitable agri-business ventures. Interactive sessions, exhibitions, and expert-led presentations provided insight into the full agricultural value chain — from production to processing and marketing.
A panel discussion tackled key challenges facing emerging farmers, including limited access to funding from SETAs and government programmes. Participants were encouraged to explore new opportunities for growth through improved coordination and training.
Official Response
Organisers described the event as a significant milestone in strengthening the district’s agricultural development. They mentioned that collaboration and knowledge-sharing are crucial for achieving long-term sustainability and improving food security.
“This initiative is about turning passion into profit,” said one of the organisers, emphasising the goal of transforming agriculture into a driver of economic growth in the Alfred Nzo region.
Community Impact
Farmers left the event inspired and better equipped to adopt modern technologies and sustainable practices. The engagement also reinforced Alfred Nzo District Municipality’s commitment to empowering rural communities and positioning the region as a leading agricultural hub.
