Alfred Nzo District Municipality hosted the Annual Mbizana Cultural and Isicathamiya Festival on 1 November 2025. The event took place at the Wild Coast Sun Tropical Nites Theatre in Ward 24. It was held in partnership with Winnie Madikizela-Mandela Local Municipality and other stakeholders.
What Happened
The event brought together artists, community members, and cultural groups from across Alfred Nzo. The stage came alive with traditional dance, music, and Isicathamiya performances that showcased the district’s diverse heritage.
According to organisers, the festival serves as a creative space where emerging talent can gain exposure and recognition. “We aim to showcase raw talent and connect young artists with national and international recruiters,” said an event coordinator.

Municipal representatives from Alfred Nzo District Municipality (ANDM) and Winnie Madikizela-Mandela Local Municipality said the festival forms part of the district’s ongoing drive to preserve indigenous culture and empower youth through the arts.
“The arts are not just entertainment, they are a bridge to opportunity and identity,” a municipal spokesperson explained.
The partnership also included support from the Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Wild Coast Sun, and the OR Tambo Arts Centre.
