The Alfred Nzo District Municipality (ANDM) hosted the Eastern Cape Public Liaison Officers’ Forum Meeting and Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) Refresher Training on 17 October 2025 at the Wild Coast Sun in Mzamba. The event aimed to assess municipal performance, improve public service response systems, and enhance the effectiveness of the Presidential Hotline.
What Happened
The two-day forum brought together Public Liaison Officers (PLOs) from various district and local municipalities across the Eastern Cape, along with sector departments. Participants shared progress reports and discussed ongoing challenges affecting service delivery and community response through the Presidential Hotline.
Key issues included improving query resolution rates, documenting success stories, and enhancing digital systems to streamline communication between government and citizens. The refresher training also focused on strengthening the ITSM platform to support faster and more reliable public service responses.
Official Response
According to the Eastern Cape Office of the Premier’s Presidential and Provincial Hotline sub-unit, the province aims to maintain a 95% or higher resolution rate for queries logged on the system. “The Presidential Hotline remains a vital link between citizens and government. It gives communities a direct voice in shaping service delivery,” the sub-unit stated.
Municipal representatives also emphasized the importance of digitization, data sharing, and peer learning to modernize public engagement.
Community Impact
The forum is expected to enhance how municipalities handle complaints, service requests, and community concerns. By improving communication systems and accountability, the Presidential Hotline helps ensure that residents across Alfred Nzo and other districts receive timely government responses.
