On 15 October 2025, the Umzimvubu Local Municipality held an Integrated Development Plan (IDP) Outreach Programme at the EmaXesibeni Town Hall in Mount Ayliff Ward 28. The session, led by Mayor Zukiswa Ndevu, was attended by members of the Executive Committee, senior management, councillors, and representatives from the Alfred Nzo District Municipality. The outreach aimed to promote participatory governance and strengthen community involvement in local development planning.

What Happened

Mayor Ndevu and her delegation engaged residents on key ward priorities and upcoming municipal projects. The meeting gave the community an opportunity to raise concerns and share ideas to improve local service delivery.

Participants stressed challenges such as infrastructure, water access, and road maintenance. Municipal officials noted these issues for inclusion in the upcoming IDP review.

Official Response

Mayor Zukiswa Ndevu reaffirmed the municipality’s commitment to transparency and citizen participation. She said that input from residents helps guide the municipality’s planning and resource allocation.

“The feedback gathered during the session will be instrumental in shaping future development plans and ensuring that community needs remain central to our service delivery agenda,” said Mayor Ndevu.

Community Impact

The IDP outreach allowed residents to express their views directly to municipal leaders. As a result, stronger communication channels were established between the municipality and the community.

In addition, the initiative supports Umzimvubu’s broader goal of inclusive development and improved accountability across all wards.
