On the 9th of October 2025, the King Sabata Dalindyebo Local Municipality (KSD) partnered with the Clinix Health Group, African Bank, and SOS Children’s Village to support families affected by floods in Maiden Farm. The area falls under the O.R. Tambo District Municipality. This humanitarian effort aimed to rebuild lives and restore dignity to households displaced by the recent floods.
What Happened
During the visit, 100 families received new beds with two pillows, duvets, bedding sheets, cutlery, dinner sets, and two-plate stoves with ovens. Each household also got a set of cooking pots.The atmosphere was emotional and joyful. Residents sang and cheered in gratitude after enduring months of hardship.
Municipal officials said the initiative is part of a broader recovery effort for families who lost their homes and belongings earlier this year.
Official Response
KSD leadership expressed appreciation to all private partners for their compassion and collaboration. “This partnership shows the true spirit of ubuntu, when private institutions join hands with government to help rebuild communities,” said one municipal representative. Representatives from Clinix Health Group and African Bank also highlighted their commitment to sustainable impact through ongoing partnerships with local municipalities.
In addition, SOS Children’s Village announced a two-year support pledge to continue assisting the affected families, ensuring that the impact extends beyond emergency relief.
Community Impact
Residents described the day as one filled with renewed hope. For many, this support meant more than material assistance, it symbolised care and community solidarity.
“We thank the municipality and everyone who remembered us. These gifts will help us start again with dignity,” said one beneficiary.
Municipal officials reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening partnerships that improve living conditions for vulnerable households across the district.
