On 16 September 2025 the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) participated in the 18th Annual Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) Conference at the Sandton Convention Centre. The three-day event brings together over 1 000 anti-fraud professionals from around the world to share insights and strengthen efforts against fraud and corruption.
What Happened
Senior Public Prosecutor Rosheila Benimadho from the KwaZulu-Natal Division of the NPA delivered a presentation on online scams, warning that international criminal networks continue to cause significant financial losses through fake emails, messages, and digital currency transactions.
She emphasized how fraudsters often use unsuspecting individuals and businesses to move stolen funds and stressed the importance of robust online security.

Benimadho urged businesses and institutions to strengthen safeguards:
“Strict verification, better staff training, and legal tools to track cybercriminals are essential. We must also act decisively against those who enable money laundering,” she said.
Other NPA officials, including Senior State Advocates Elivera Dreyer and Ndiitwani Mutangwa, and Deputy Director for Human Resources Development Themba Mnguni, participated in the exhibition hall, engaging with attendees on the NPA’s services, training programmes, and justice system initiatives.
