On 15 September 2025, the University of Zululand hosted its annual Law Career Day at the KwaDlangezwa Campus, where law students met with the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) and other key stakeholders. The event was organised to show why legal careers in public service matter, how graduates can enter the field, and what opportunities exist beyond private practice.
Their Story
Representing the NPA, Empangeni Control Prosecutor Mojahid Daniels presented the Aspirant Prosecutor Programme, an internship that enables law graduates to gain practical prosecutorial experience. Students also engaged with the NPA exhibition stand, where they learned how the programme prepares young lawyers for meaningful careers in the justice system.
The Event/Occasion
The career fair at KwaDlangezwa Campus was an interactive session designed to connect students with professionals. The NPA set up an exhibition stand where learners could engage directly with staff and ask about career opportunities.
Other stakeholders also took part, including the Legal Practice Council, the KZN Bar, private law firms, and human rights organisations. Together, they presented students with a broad view of the profession, showing that law is about advocacy, justice, and service in many forms
Community Reactions
Students expressed appreciation for the hands-on approach and welcomed the opportunity to meet professionals face-to-face. Many said they left the event better informed about their career options, particularly in the field of public service.
For the NPA, the engagement reinforced its mission of grooming a new generation of prosecutors while inspiring confidence in South Africa’s justice system.
