The Greater Kokstad Municipality has successfully wrapped up the Mayoral Cup Tournament, which began on 30–31 August 2025 and concluded on Sunday, 07 September 2025. Led by Councillor L. Madikizela, the tournament brought the community together in celebration of unity, talent, and determination. The Mayor personally awarded prizes to the winning teams and individuals across various sporting disciplines, recognising their hard work and dedication.
Winners included Red Bulls (R20 000), Young Lions (R10 000), and Waterfall (R5 000) in male football, while Eight Stars Club (R10 000), Disciples LFA (R5 000), and Diski Pros Region (R2 000) triumphed in female football. Netball champions Jaguars won R15 000, Leads took R10 000, and Thee Sisters R5 000. Volleyball winners Kokstad Rebels, Red Devils, and Spikers earned R5 000, R3 000, and R2 000 respectively.
Other sports crowned winners in cricket, golf, dance, table tennis, cycling, boxing, chess, athletics, and indigenous games, with prize money ranging from R1 000 to R10 000 for top performers.
The event emphasized the role of sport in shaping disciplined and focused youth while aiming to build a People-Centred City of Economic Possibilities by 2047. Organisers from the various sport confederations were praised for their dedication to youth development.
