Police in Mqanduli, Eastern Cape, have arrested two brothers following the murder of their elder sibling. The incident took place on 06 September night after the men allegedly caught their 39-year-old brother raping their 15-year-old niece.

According to police spokesperson Welile Matyolo, the brothers tied the man’s hands with a rope and locked him inside a rondavel house. The following morning, at around 8:00 on Sunday, the elder brother was found dead.

“The two brothers accused their elder brother of raping their niece when they all arrived home from a local tavern. They then tied his hands with a rope and kept him in a locked rondavel house on 05 September  night, and the elder brother was found dead on 07 September morning,” said Matyolo.


The suspects were taken into custody shortly after the discovery of the body. They are appead  first appearance in court on 07 September, where they took face charges of murder.
