Police in Mpumalanga arrested two suspects, aged 26 and 28, on Thursday 04 September 2025, after discovering marijuana with an estimated street value of R350 000. The arrests took place around 07h30 during a routine stop-and-search operation along the R38 Road between Kaapmuiden and Low’s Creek.
According to reports, members of the SAPS in Kaapmuiden stopped a silver-grey VW Polo with Mpumalanga registration number plates. During the search, officers found six tightly packed parcels of marijuana concealed in black plastic bags inside the vehicle.
The confiscated marijuana weighed approximately 170.92 kilograms. The two suspects were immediately charged with dealing in marijuana. Police also seized the vehicle, which was being used to transport the consignment, for further investigation.
The suspects are set to appear before the Barberton Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 05 September 2025. The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi, applauded the swift action of the officers, praising their vigilance in curbing drug trafficking in the province.
