  • Community Healthcare Outreach Initiative: The Owkhulu Foundation, in partnership with local authorities, hosted a health outreach in Marhubeni to provide essential medical services directly to residents, addressing barriers related to distance and costs.

The Owkhulu Foundation, in partnership with the Department of Health and Nyandeni Local Municipality, hosted a Thuma Mina health outreach programme in Marhubeni, Ward 04. The initiative aimed to bring essential medical services directly to residents who often face long distances and costs when seeking healthcare.

Community members benefited from a wide range of services, including doctor’s consultations, TB and HIV screening and testing, eye care screening, and health awareness sessions on chronic diseases. Additional services provided were under-5 immunisation, family planning, cervical and prostate cancer screening, as well as six-month reviews for hypertension and diabetes clients.

By providing these services within the community, the outreach programme helped reduce barriers to accessing healthcare and ensured residents received much-needed support without financial strain.

In addition to healthcare, Owkhulu Foundation extended its support to education by donating seven pairs of school shoes to learners in need. The identified beneficiaries came from King Victor Poto SPS and Marhubeni Primary School, bringing relief to families and encouragement to the young pupils.
