If your SASSA grant application was declined, you can now appeal through the Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance Appeals (ITSAA). This is your legal right—just act fast, as the window closes 30 to 90 days after the rejection notice.
To begin your appeal:
- Visit the official SASSA appeals portal at srd.sassa.gov.za/appeals.
- Enter your South African ID number and the phone number used in your original application.
- Click “Send PIN”, then input the one-time PIN you receive.
- Select the month of the declined grant (e.g., June or July 2025).
- Provide a clear reason or new evidence—like proof of unemployment, income limits, medical reports, or bank statements.
- Review the declaration, submit your appeal, and note your reference or confirmation number.
The ITSAA will review your case, typically within 60–90 days. Decisions are communicated via SMS or email. If your appeal succeeds, payments will resume retroactively. If not, you may escalate further, including seeking judicial review.
