The uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MK Party) has forcefully dismissed reports of internal discord following the circulation of leaked letters suggesting disciplinary action against its national spokesperson, Nhlamulo Ndhlela.
Reports, based on two letters reportedly from MK’s deputy president Dr John Hlophe, accused Ndhlela of “disruptive conduct,” undermining party unity, engaging in factional behaviour, and using insulting language. One letter allegedly removed him from the parliamentary “whippery” team and issued a reprimand to fellow MP Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla.
Speaking with Newzroom Afrika, Ndhlela confirmed he had seen the documents only on social media and had not received any official notice. He said Hlophe informed him that his digital signature may have been falsified and that the party is investigating the origin of the letters.
In a Daily Sun interview, Ndhlela emphasised unity within the caucus, affirming that Chief Whip Colleen Makhubele remains in her position and there is no shake-up. He noted internal adjustments do occur, mentioning he stepped aside earlier for gender parity reasons.
Despite the leaked documents indicating significant discontent within the party leadership, Ndhlela maintained that the MK Party remains “strong and united,” and promised internal vetting to determine the letter’s authenticity.
