GOOD Party Demands Action from Unity Government After One Year

One year after the launch of South Africa’s Government of National Unity (GNU), the GOOD Party has delivered a sharp rebuke of the coalition’s performance, warning that “unity without delivery is meaningless.”

In a statement marking the GNU’s first anniversary, GOOD leader Patricia de Lille said the time for empty promises is over, and the country urgently needs decisive action to address growing poverty, deepening inequality, and systemic government failures.

`Our democracy must deliver for all—not just the few, – said de Lille.

The GOOD Party is championing a “GOOD Deal” to uplift South Africa’s most vulnerable citizens—anchored in sustainable jobs, social protection, climate resilience, and ethical governance.

Top Areas Demanding Action:

  • Economic Justice & Jobs
Calls for a R999 monthly basic income grant for the unemployed to fight poverty and boost local economies.
  • Corruption Crackdown
Pushes for zero-tolerance policing of corrupt politicians and redirection of funds to essential services.
  • Spatial & Social Equity
Proposes reversing apartheid-era segregation by investing in housing, public transport, and quality education.
  • Environmental Justice
Highlights the need for urgent climate action, clean energy rollouts, and protection for vulnerable communities.

GOOD is now urging Parliament and the public to hold the GNU accountable, saying it will continue to act as a watchdog and advocate for transformative reforms that deliver real outcomes—not political spin.
