The South African Football Association (SAFA) has appointed Vela Khumalo as head coach for the national team in the upcoming 2025 COSAFA Cup, set to take place in Bloemfontein from 4 to 15 June.

Khumalo, renowned for his success with South Africa’s U17 men’s national team, including securing qualification for the 2025 FIFA U17 World Cup, brings a wealth of experience in youth development to the senior side.

The 2025 COSAFA Cup, marking its 24th edition, will feature 14 teams, including guest nation Morocco, competing in a group-stage format across two venues in Bloemfontein.

Khumalo’s appointment reflects SAFA’s commitment to nurturing homegrown talent and providing opportunities for emerging players on the international stage.
