Minister Dean Macpherson praised Infrastructure South Africa for a successful SIDSSA, noting key progress in the nation’s infrastructure plans. The event brought together hundreds of delegates, including 11 ministers and deputy ministers from across Africa, to address challenges and explore innovative solutions in infrastructure development. A highlight of the symposium was the launch of the second edition of the Construction Book, featuring over 250 projects valued at more than R268 billion, almost double the previous edition’s value.

In addition, the top seven catalytic projects were announced to receive project preparation funding. These projects, supported by a groundbreaking R600 million allocation, include developments such as the Boegoebaai Port and Rail project, the Durban-Johannesburg Container Corridor, and the Coega SEZ 100MW Solar Farm.

Minister Macpherson congratulated Infrastructure South Africa and its Acting Head, Mameetse Masemola, for bringing together leaders from various sectors to move South Africa’s infrastructure pipeline from planning to implementation. He described the symposium as a turning point in accelerating infrastructure delivery and attracting much-needed investment.

“Communities have waited too long for these projects to materialise,” said Minister Macpherson. “This symposium sets the stage for real progress. But success now depends on swift action from both government and private partners to attract investment and create jobs.”

The Minister urged private sector involvement to help transform South Africa into a “country under construction,” with visible development driving economic growth. “Together, we are building a better South Africa,” he concluded.
