As part of the South African Royal Princesses Network (SARPN) national campaign to fight and create awareness and educate on GBV as well as empower women and children, the SARPN will host GBV awareness programmes nationwide.
South African Royal Princesses Network founded by Princess Stella Sigcau II of the Mpondo Kingdom in 2019 is a progressive association of Royal Princesses from various parts of South Africa who are committed to contributing productively in the upliftment of their communities and broader South Africa, playing an active role in rural, youth and cultural development, promotion of unity in a diversity of cultures, in the fight against Gender Based Violence and empowerment of women and children.
The Princesses will coordinate GBV activations in the schools in their villages and continue with their monthly hikes against GBV a program that includes donations of food parcels to relevant shelters and homes.
A SARPN Gender Based Violence (GBV) program on 5 February 2022 will also be hosted at Baphiring Lodge, Mabalstad in the North West Province which will commence with a hike against GBV followed by a formal program which will include various presentations on GBV and the last leg of the program is the donation of food parcels to the female led families in need.
Expected to attend is the newly elected first female Chairperson of the National House of Traditional Leaders, Nkosikazi Mhlauli, representatives from the North West House of Traditional Leaders, AmaKhosi, AmaKhosikazi and members of the Royal families from various parts of South Africa, NGOs and representatives from the business sector. Speakers include Princess Stella Sigcau II, the founder of SARPN, MEC Kenetswe Mosenogi of NW Department of Economic Development, Environment, Conservation and Tourism who will deliver the keynote address and MEC of Social Development.
South African Royal Princesses Network will also be signing an MoU with Kuhluka Movement cooperating in the fight against GBV as well as in creating awareness. This is the continuation of their work which included workshops on GBV held in Mt Zion School in Mbizana and Ntsikayezwe SSS in Ntabankulu in 2021 as well as continuing engagements with Traditional Leaders in various parts of South Africa in this regard.
Josina Machel, a GBV survivor and activist and the daughter of Graca and the late Mozambican President Samora Machel is the founder of Kuhluka Movement which is a non-profit civil society mass organisation directed at combating the violation of rights of women.
