King Marhelane was a father of both King Mandlonke and king Botha Sigcau. The lineage of king Marhelane was rich in the history of anti – colonialism as King Faku, King Marhelane and Nkosi Ntsikayezwe Sigcau’s commemoration is evidence of their role in Freedom Park in Pretoria. Their statues stand colossal there. Amongst the seven kings who were founding fathers of the ANC is king Marhelane.

On the 10nth of May last Saturday, 8 main houses of the late King Marhelane gathered in Hewu to officiate the appointment of the older son of the late King Zanozuko Sigcau who was known as Prince Yolisa Sigcau renamed King Silosohlanga kaDakhile. Previous days, the other faction that hails Prince Dumelani as potential king to be, rushed to the court to interdict the gathering at Hewu Royal Place not to proceed, was rejected by the court.

It is not once that the court cases of Prince Dumelani was declined as not not legitimate successor. His camp has called the meeting of amaMpondo to gather at Lusikisiki College on the 15nth of May. At the end they are all Mpondo Royal family, descendants of King Marhelane and other previous kings. They are both matured and possible they will find each other and see eye to eye and work together as Royals.

This tribe’s founding father king Faku who is the source of both Enyandeni and Qaukeni Great Places was revered as a hero and intellect in warfare during King Shaka’s days and his land was vast, such that he allowed Sir Theophilus Sheostone in the now Port Shepstone to block king Shaka from waging another attack as due to colonial administration, Mpondoland lost some lands to the then Natal province etc.
