In a heartwarming ceremony held at Gillespie Presbyterian Church in Danti Location Umzimvubu Local Municipality, Executive Mayor Cllr: Vukile Mhlelembana of Alfred Nzo District Municipality handed over educational materials to six exceptional matric learners from Lindelani and Jojo Senior Secondary Schools. This gesture fulfilled a promise made by the Executive Mayor during his motivational visit to the schools in 2024.
“We are gathered here today to celebrate the hard work of these learners and motivate them as well as others to continue doing well,” said Executive Mayor Cllr: Vukile Mhlelembana during his keynote address.
He also encouraged learners who didn’t perform well to maintain a positive attitude and try again, emphasizing that the educational materials will aid them in their future academic pursuits.
Each learner received a laptop, printer, and R5,000 cash. The recipients, Gcina Cebo Nofuya, Ntlakanipho Matabata, Kamva Mtshubungu, Mihlali Gawulana, Kungawo Dlungwana, and Loloejike Sodidi, expressed excitement and gratitude for the recognition.
Principals from both schools shared their enthusiasm about the results, acknowledging challenges they faced with learner discipline. Mr. Wuntu, Principal of Lindelani Senior Secondary School, aims to improve on the school’s 89.7% pass rate from 2024. Meanwhile, Mr. Mnganyana, Principal of Jojo Senior Secondary School, promised to strive for over 96.1% pass rate in 2025, appreciating the community, Department of Education, and teachers’ contributions to their success.
