Tragedy has struck the Magini family after their 13-year-old was allegedly sexually assaulted by a known member of the Mawonga village, Ntabankulu on Christmas.
The family of a young child that was raped by is crying out to the government to uphold the law and arrest the culprit that wronged their child and family. According to Themba Magini, the grandfather of the child, no arrests have been made since the incident.
“The culprit is known and his family came to visit and tried to apologise, to which we replied, the child is still in hospital, and they should also bring the suspect to the meeting. As we heard it, one man raped my granddaughter with four others watching without helping. It was only when other witnesses came along that the suspect ran away and the remaining four mentioned all that they saw. The police came to collect DNA from two of those witnesses. The man that violated the child is still walking around as if nothing happened, we are worried that the schools are opening, and the child has to face the music. We will not retaliate, we want the law to run its course,” cried out Magini

The child burst her womb, so she has a less unfortunate future than others, the hospital had to transfer her to Mthatha for further care, said Dweba.
