South Africa has reaffirmed their hold at the summit of Group G in the CAF World Cup Qualifiers after edging their neighbours, Zimbabwe with a 1 – 0 score line this evening. While Ghana failed to beat a stubborn Ethiopian side at Orlando Stadium in the afternoon. The fixture between the Black Stars of Ghana and Ethiopia was moved to the historic stadium after CAF Officials found that the stadiums in Ethiopia were unfit to hold the match.

It was a slow start to the game with only a few shots taken by both sides in the first 20 minutes but the home side was making their intentions known as they dominated the proceedings with a higher ball position average and it paid off in the 26th minute as Tebogo Mokoena opened the scoring after nodding a header past Zim’s goalkeeper from a Dolly cross.

Results: South Africa 1 – 0 Zimbabwe

South Africa are currently leading Group G with a three points difference and will face Ghana in their next on Sunday, 14 November 2021 at 8pm in Ghana. South Africa only needs one point from the game to qualify for the World Cup that will be played in Qatar next year.
