Ntabankulu Local Municipality has issued an alert to the community regarding a phishing scam involving the hacked email account of Municipal Manager Ms. Ivy Sikhulu-Nqwena.
According to officials, fraudulent emails claiming to be from the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) have been sent from the Municipal Manager’s email to her contacts, in an attempt to solicit personal and financial information.
The municipality warns the public to disregard any emails originating from Ms. Sikhulu-Nqwena’s account, as hackers are attempting to collect sensitive information, such as credit card details, for potentially fraudulent purposes.
As part of its response, the municipality’s Technical Support Team has disabled the compromised email account and is actively working to secure and restore services.
