Shayhieda Dollie, a 49-year-old mother from Gelvandale in Gqeberha , eastern cape, has appeared in New Brighton Magistrates Court facing charges of murder and conspiracy to murder her 22-year-old son, Moegamat Thaafir Dollie.
The Alleged premeditated murder occurred on October 28, 2024, with Dollie accused of orchestrating a plan to kill her son due to his drug addiction challenges and being considered a nuisance at home. According to Luxolo Tyali, National Prosecution Authority regional spokesman, Dollie consulted with individuals who suggested a “permanent solution” to her problems with her son.
Dollie allegedly hired hitmen from Johannesburg, initially agreeing to pay R80,000, which later increased to R380,000 due to her procrastination. The plan unfolded when Dollie told her son he had a job interview, and the perpetrators picked him up, leading to his murder.
The motive behind the alleged murder was to claim R2 Million in life insurance, which would be used to pay the hitmen. The state opposes bail, and the matter has been postponed to November 15, 2024, for profile verification purposes.
This shocking case has left the community reeling, with many questions surrounding the circumstances leading to the alleged murder. As the investigation continues, the public awaits further development in this tragic incident.
