A devastating head-on collision occurred on Sunday, July 21, at approximately 03:00, at the R75, Uitenhage Road and Johnson Road junction, resulting in the loss of four lives. The accident involved a sedan, an Opel Corsa, carrying three occupants, and a bakkie with one occupant, driven by prominent Gqeberha doctor, Dr. Lungisa Excel Nojoko.
According to Unathi Binqose, spokesperson for the Eastern Cape Department of Transport, all four individuals involved in the collision tragically perished at the scene. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
A culpable homicide docket has been opened with the New Brighton SAPS, and authorities are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash. The community is In mourning as they come to terms with the loss of Dr. Nojoko, a respected member of the medical community, and the other three victims.
