Mount Frere was plunged into chaos today as the N2 road leading through the town found itself completely blocked from all directions. The Uncedo Taxi Association orchestrated the blockade, utilizing approximately 200 taxis and buses to barricade key points along the route, including N2 next to Madzikane and from N2 at First gate up to Shinta.

The protest, fueled by frustration over the unavailability of a proper taxi rank in Mount Frere, has garnered attention from local authorities. Mzimvubu Municipality Mayor Councillor Ndevu, along with the Speaker and Chief, have been contacted regarding the demonstration.

Meanwhile, law enforcement, led by POP Captain Magadla and supported by members of the Public Order Policing (POP) unit and Visible Policing (Vispol), are on site to manage the protest and maintain public safety amidst the escalating tension.
