Eastern Cape MEC for Health, Nomakhosazana Meth will on Thursday 17 August 2023, officiate the opening of Khotsong TB Hospital in Matatiele, Alfred Nzo.
The Department invested R689-million in the construction of the state-of-the-art facility. The project is part of the department’s ongoing efforts toward improving healthcare facilities around the province.
The 120-bedded facility provides TB services and receives referrals from most of the northern districts within the province. It is also the only facility that provides decentralized drug-resistant TB services in Alfred Nzo.
The upgraded functional programme includes an upgraded gatehouse facility as one enters, pharmacy, radiology, consulting areas, OPD, clinic and laboratory services, and an administration block.
The facility houses a specialized multi-drug resistant ward, pediatric ward, kitchen, recreational chapel and educational building.
