Miss South Africa 2025, Qhawekazi Mazaleni, returned home to Dutywa this week, where hundreds gathered at Mbhashe LG Mall to celebrate the rise of one of the Eastern Cape’s brightest stars.

At just 24, Mazaleni received a warm, emotional welcome as residents filled the mall with traditional songs, cheers, and ululation.

Since being crowned in October 2025, Mazaleni has championed autism awareness, youth development, and mother-tongue literacy, including publishing an isiXhosa children’s book.
